The Club Penguin Staff were people who worked for Club Penguin and Club Penguin Island. There were many different types of Club Penguin Staff. Some were CSRs (Community Support Representative), who did things such as answering community support emails and keeping Club Penguin safe online. Others could be artists, writers, engineers, bloggers as well as other positions.

"Moderator" term

The term "moderator" is often used to refer to all Club Penguin Staff. Many penguins believe that all staff members have access to the banning of accounts and the Club Penguin Staff Control Panel. This is not the case. Only CSRs have access to this, as they are in the position to "moderate" Club Penguin.

Trivia

Live moderating was first introduced on September 30, 2005.^[1]
Moderators were originally planned to appear as polar bears instead of penguins in-game, due to them appearing as if they were "authority figures" due to their large size relative to penguins. However, this was never implemented as it was thought this would be counter-intuitive, as polar bears could be seen as unique, prompting crowds of players to swarm them, or making it easy for players to know when a moderator wasn't present, thus encouraging bad behavior if there was none around.^[2]
Club Penguin Staff had access to any item, even if it was a bait item.^[3]
Many Club Penguin Staff banned their accounts when they were offline to ensure hackers were not able to access accounts.
Club Penguin Staff used to have the moderator badge in the top right corner of their Player Card. However, this was later removed so that staff members could moderate Club Penguin undercover.
Club Penguin Staff used an internal wiki called I.C.E.
