The Demotion Project is a place where any user can vote on users to be demoted.

Rules and how to nominate

Rules
  • You cannot vote for or against yourself.
  • You cannot tell other users to vote for or against someone, including if you are nominated.
  • You must have made at least 20 mainspace edits this month.
  • A user that was nominated for demotion cannot be nominated again in the following month.
  • A vote closes after 2 weeks.
How to nominate a user
  1. Contact an admin and mention the nominee's username. Tell the admin why you believe a demotion should be done.
  2. This admin will then confirm whether it's a reason for demotion. If possible, it's also recommended that 2 admins will confirm it.

Phineas99cp (-1)

Nominated by AustinD-3 and confirmed by Apj26 (Vote Ends August 13)

Although Phineas is a nice user, he rarely makes mainspace edits, if you look at his edit count currently only 2703 out of 18611 are mainspace, which isnt significant since the patroller right is one level down from admin, thus should be demoted.

  • Eh, he still edits frequently sometimes but his deleting techniques hasn't been doing much for a while and he barely reverts vandalism, so yeah.. Miss Sanrio! 15:38, July 30, 2015 (UTC)
  • While the actual amount of edits a user has should not really matter, I think a patroller should be doing more than commenting on blog posts (especially if the comment is just something like "First comment of 2015!!") and uploading primarily personal-use pictures. I have not once seen him use his rights that were not just for his own personal benefit, either. Additionally, I have come across a hefty amount of inappropriate comments of his on blogs while doing cleanup, including references to drugs, death, racism, and others. He even made an infamously violent blog about... killing. Among other things, I dont think such behavior is acceptable of a patroller. –Watatsuki Sutra scroll Watatsuki sig 15:46, July 30, 2015 (UTC)
    • What does my past have to do with this. Back then I wasn't even promoted to a chat mod. Back then I used to be more immature comparing to right now. I'll admit it, my blog comments tend to be pointless, yet why can't I do it? I am not hurting somebody's feelings, or cussing, or mentioning inappropiate comment. My personal files have nothing to do with this as well. I recall a former patroller called User:Jackninja5DipperGravityFalls who did the same thing, yet didn't get a fight by the administration for uploading persona files. If you want to judge somebody by its past, then I assume it wouldn't be a problem if I open a vote to have many users vote for your demotion and judge your past as well, simultaneously others being able to do the same. Like that time where you blocked somebody unfairly? Like that time where you kicked somebody even though it doesn't say in the policy? Like that time where you banned somebody from chat without any valid proof? I don't find it's an appropiate behavior for an admin to upload a lot of files based of the same thing instead of overwriting the same file just to get more credit and being recognized as very active, hard-worker, etc. Your contributions are still appreciated (uploading item files for instance), but it'd be more appreciated if you overwrite the file instead of uploading a new one. Apparently, that's the main reason why you have a lot of mainspace edits. Inside Out Pin iconInside Out Party is here! Memory Orbs July 30, 2015
      • "it'd be more appreciated if you overwrite the file instead of uploading a new one" - He's uploading new files so that they all have the same naming convention. It saves the trouble of having to overwrite files and then move them so that the file names are consistent, and he's cleaning up the pages he's adding images to anyway.
"just to get more credit and being recognized as very active, hard-worker" - Except he's already very active and hard-working. He's not doing this for credit.
"Apparently, that's the main reason why you have a lot of mainspace edits." - Uploading a file is not a mainspace edit.

        • "He's uploading new files so that they all have the same naming convention. It saves the trouble of having to overwrite files and then move them so that the file names are consistent, and he's cleaning up the pages he's adding images to anyway." - Actually there were barely any files which had nothing to do for the selected page. Many of my files had that and are personal actually, amongst other users' personal files.
"Except he's already very active and hard-working. He's not doing this for credit." - I can also be very active, but I couldn't lately due to my family using my computer a lot lately and it's a valid reason actually. My sister has to use it to study and for her school while my mom uses it for personal stuff. Also, to be honest, I work very hard in the wiki as well, perhaps even harder than Wata and if you think extracting room exterior are easy, then I challenge you to get me the Dance Dome, Robo Shop, and Blast Off Bistro exterior pics from the Future Town Center swf during the Future Party and as for getting credit, I may have overreacted a little, yet that's my point of view towards Wata's work lately.
"Uploading a file is not a mainspace edit." - I know, yet his mainspace edits have increased drastically due to his files being added to their party pages although tbh, other things as well like things on playercard and in-game view. Still, I can easily upload 10,000 files for a single edit yet I can upload 10,000 files for 10,000 edits. Do you want me to do that? Because that's how many admins did that in the past (intermediate edits) (User:Fottymaddy and another dude whose profile icon is a beta hat and username I don't remember). - Phineas99 (Adding signature soon) Aug 01, 2015.
          • I see that Watatsuki already took care of one of the exteriors, but here are the other two: Dance Dome exterior, Robo Shop exterior. If you need any more, just ask. Anyway, I'm not arguing for or against you having patroller rights, but I wanted to make a point regarding the image uploading. When uploading many files and trying to stick to a naming convention as Watatsuki is doing, it's slower and takes more steps to overwrite files, move them to file names that follow the same naming convention, and update the file links on pages. It's faster to simply upload the files under names that already follow the convention and update the file links on pages. Also, since he would be updating the file links on pages either way, using the method he's using now doesn't result in more mainspace edits. The reason he's doing it is likely for efficiency- not for credit or so that people recognize him as more active or hard-working. --Hey.youcp Surfboard Pin 03:44, August 2, 2015 (UTC)
            • I really appreciate the help. I thought it would take a long time for you tbh. Still, if you think it's still a piece of cake then it's time to change difficulty. Please get me the SoundStudio Party Pet Shop exterior and/or the Penguin Cup Pet Shop exterior. It's not that easy as what you may think. As for the files, I still find it unneccesary to change file names including personal ones. Another point I want to mention is about my comparison between my mainspace and file edits. The number of files I've uploaded is HUGE, yet I tend to upload many files at all once and add them to the page. It's actually upsetting to see how this is the main reason I was put up for demotion project. Due to this, I will change the way, but once again. Is quantity better than quality? I can stop uploading files for the next 2 years and start adding-removing small things like points, commas, whatever and re-add/remove the same thing again and you can finally see my mainspace edits rising up. I suppose in this case quantity is better than quality :D -Phineas99
  • He's a very good mod or something like that. Just because he rarely edits doesn't mean he is lazy! He may be busy, or simply doing something else. Give him some time, and he'll do good things as an admin! Plus, he's the one who stuck up to me after Ifellfromgel cyberbullied me recently! He's also quite nice, and does important things when he is active. He isn't also a bully, or misusing the power. --UglyMorton 13:24, July 30, 2015 (EST)
  • It is kinda upsetting how despite of my work, there is a probability that I might get demoted. When this happened, my last edit was made when I replaced Wata's pic with mine (because RH's ship didn't appear) in the Halloween Party 2013 page. Earlier the 9th Anniversary Party to add the FA template. I'll be honest, I haven't been rushing with a lot of things, yet I've been very unable to use the computer lately because most of my family use it as well. I could've advanced a little more by now. Still, some people are saying that my work is pointless, while the truth is that it isn't. It takes more work and time to extract a great room exterior pic, or try to gain a good cutout while simultaneously keep in touch with the community. What kind of high-rank user makes events? I am perhaps the only one and the sole reason I do it is to make the wiki more "active". I try to time certain actions but apparently you're asking for more. Heck, I even used to upload the same room pictures Wata does, yet I used to get warnings in the past for uploading "repetitive files", yet the only reason why Wata can upload them is because he's an admin and to upload "high quality pictures" while in reality, there isn't much change in most pictures. You can easily crop my pictures and then claim that they are completely "new". Worst of all, some do not even bother to overwrite certain files which apparently, it doesn't demonstrate that the work was entirely done by you unless you upload a new file (or rename the same file according to User:Jeserator (Now you see why Wata has a lot of edits :)) (Note to Watatsuki: You may say that some of my files are spam but most of the files that have spam names are PERSONAL things I've stored in my userpage and I barely uploaded any "real" files with spam on it so your argument is somehow invalid). I have a LOT of crap I've been storing over the past months which apparently aren't even in the pages yet. Sadly, like I've said, I am unable to spend a lot of time on the computer and usually I focus on other things like events, personal things, etc. People say that files mean nothing, yet I upload many files which belong to the pages. It's also worth mentioning that there hasn't been a lot of bad activity going on about vandalism (today there were 2 cases but 1 was an accident by Jasper the Hot Cheeto). Heck, my work isn't even appreciated. People are complaining that I should crop my photos while I didn't even have time to look up on Youtube on how to crop on Gimp because for some reason I can't on Paint.net. Exactly right now, I have some time, yet I'd rather use that time to actually demonstrate some of my work by editing more and explain my current situation to the wikians. Furthermore, shouldn't you demote me when I am inactive for 2 entire weeks without any valid reason? My last edit done was made today, and one more logical yet perhaps pointless argument is, why demote the only patroller left? Don't you see we are struggling to gain population where you're focusing on get rid of your own instead? Inside Out Pin iconInside Out Party is here! Memory Orbs July 30, 2015
    • "I didn't even have time to look up on Youtube on how to crop on Gimp" - Why would you need to look that up on YouTube? Image → Autocrop Image --Hey.youcp Surfboard Pin 01:38, July 31, 2015 (UTC)
      • Maybe he doesn't know how to do it (Correct me if he does) Let's do the Time-Warp again!LipsiesWikiaFrog
        • I know how to in Paint.net and GIMP. For some reason, the program doesn't crop them properly. Fuzzyhamster taught me of another trick (as simple it is though). -Phineas99 (adding signature soon)
          • Then why would you need to look it up? Blue Pom Pom Toque clothing icon ID 1104 AustinD-3 (Talk) (Blog) Blue Pom Pom Toque clothing icon ID 1104 19:18, August 3, 2015 (UTC)
            • To crop images perfectly, otherwise many users argue about how cropped it is. As for GIMP, I don't have much knowledge about the program that's why. -Phineas99

Phineas shouldn't be demoted. He does really hard work here. -Jonie.
