- This was the first Earth Day related event since Earth Day 2012.
- However, this was the first Earth Day related event to be called Earth Month, not Earth Day.
- This event was sponsored by the Disneynature documentary Born in China.
- On April 23, 2017, the Panda emoji decorations were changed to Rockhopper Penguin emojis to celebrate World Penguin Day.
