Club Penguin Disney Pin Trading Pins are hard enamel pins that could be worn on lanyards, clothing, backpacks, and displayed on boards. The Club Penguin Mystery Pins, Club Penguin Mystery Pins Series 2, the puffle booster pin pack, and the lanyard medal were sold in Disney Theme Parks. Additionally, there were pins exclusively given to Club Penguin staff members and their HQ visitors.
The mystery pins are packaged in a mystery box that contains two randomly selected pins where the design of the pin is not revealed until after it is purchased and the box is opened. They could be purchased in Walt Disney World Resort, and Disneyland in the United States. Each box came with two codes. Redeemed codes from the Club Penguin Mystery Pins would unlock the Castle Pin and Club Penguin Mystery Pins Series 2 codes would unlock the Pink Mystery Pin. If a player already unlocked the item, additional redeemed codes would give the player coins.
The first series of the mystery pins were Series 5 toys. They were released in 2009 and retailed for $12.95 per box. There are 10 pins in the collection: Rockstar Penguin, Astronaut Penguin, Rockhopper, Fairy Princess, Ghost Penguin, Tourist taking picture, Shadow Guy, Penguin with Logo, “My First Visit" Penguin, and the Scuba Penguin.
The second series of Club Penguin mystery pins were released in 2012 and also contained a collection of 10 original pins: Movie Director Penguin, Pin Trader Penguin, Princess Penguin, Club Penguin Logo with Puffles, Cadence, Rockhopper with Yarr, Headless Horseman Penguin, Space Astronaut, Mermaid Penguin, and Shadow Guy. It retailed for $13.95 per box.
The puffle booster pin pack contained a set of 7 pins featuring the first 7 puffles released in the game. It retailed for $29.95 and could be purchased at Walt Disney World Resort, and Disneyland in the United States. A second variation of the booster pin pack containing 9 pins (all of the original 7 pins in the first pack plus the orange and white puffles) was sold exclusively on Disney Store UK online and in select Europe Disney Stores. It retailed for £22.00 GBP.
