Humbug is a character in the play A Humbug Holiday. He is described as an unkind and grumpy penguin and is visited by three ghosts throughout the play: one which shows him the mistakes of his past ("You left your socks in the drier!"), one which shows him the opportunities of the present ("There's a holiday sale on fruit cake. TODAY ONLY!"), and one which predicts his future ("I foresee disappointment") before stealing his fruitcake.
