Redesign is the process of changing, updating, or simplifying features or aspects of Club Penguin. There have been five major redesigns in Club Penguin history, all of which happened after the purchase by Disney.

Penguin Redesign[]

First[]

In 2008, shortly after Disney's purchase of Club Penguin, penguins were entirely redesigned. Differing from their previously triangular shape, they appeared pear shaped and more detailed. The design remained until 2013.

Second[]

Beginning in 2013, penguins were also drawn in a new style. They are now taller, thinner, and more humanistic. Lines appear in a darker variation of the subjects color, a style often called saturationism. Beaks are no longer round, and appear more orange as well as longer. All mascots were given a body item.

Room Redesign[]

First[]

Beginning in 2009, new rooms that were drawn changed style. Old rooms remained the same, but new rooms were drawn with lines as opposed to the fill in shapes that appeared in older Club Penguin rooms. New rooms that appeared on the island from this point forth appeared in this style.

Second[]

Main article: The Journey

Beginning with the renovation of the Dance Lounge in 2011, several rooms started receiving new designs. The largest group of these happened following after Operation: Blackout. The newly designed weren't completely finished as many concept renovations for non-renovated rooms were never impelled. An example of this is that the Migrator was said to be renovated after the Pirate Party 2014, however the design remained the same after being rebuilt.

Puffle Redesign[]

In March 2011, puffles were given a new art style. They were made to appear fluffier and more like pets. Their in-game appearance as well as their artwork changed to match this new style. They appeared larger in a penguin's igloo, so penguins in igloos were also made slghtly larger. The old puffle look can still be seen when playing Puffle Roundup.

General Interface Redesign[]

From late 2010 to early 2015, the interface and other aspects of the game were just generally revamped. The map was renovated, a new puffle interface was launched to compliment the new puffle style, a new igloo interface was launched to compliment with the other new interfaces and several games received new start screens.
