Shootouts is a party minigame during the Penguin Cup. The game is played by two players, and one can invite someone else to the game by dancing with the Penguin Cup Ball, which is received through the game interface. A soccer ball icon then appears above the inviting player, and a game starts as soon as someone else clicks it.
The objective of the game is to score as many points as possible. The game is played in two sections of the screen: the player on the left, and the opponent on the right. Each player is given an individual soccer goal, and has 40 seconds to earn as many points as he or she can.
Earning points is done in the following way: a path appears on the screen with a target at some point of it. A white circle appears on one of the path's tips and starts moving along the path. Once it covers some of the target, by pressing the space bar or click using your mouse, the player kicks the ball into the net, and then another path would appear, for scoring more points. If the key is pressed while the circle doesn't cover the target, the player would miss. If the circle reaches the end of the path, it reverses its direction.
Each goal gives the player another point. While there are no winners in the game, the points earned go to the player's team global points, and are also featured on their Player Card, allowing them to earn items as they progress and earn more points.
Also, the maximum amount of possible points increases as players upgrade their power shoes.
