The Standard Safe Chat (also known as Regular Safe Chat) was a chatting mode that was available to players. Unlike Ultimate Safe Chat, players who use the Standard Safe Chat could manually type sentences using a chat bar in the toolbar.

- Weekend before July 23, 2007 - players can no longer type numbers.[1]
- October 28, 2011 - the quick chat phrases feature- which was tested in the Beta Team- was launched.[2]
- April 5, 2013 - Players can now type apostrophes ( ' ) and have more than 2 exclamation marks (!) and question marks (?) per message.

- The message length limit is 48 characters.
- Famous Penguins controlled by the Club Penguin Team can type numbers.
- Swears are usually blocked by filters, and result in a ban.
- Some messages that you send could be blocked by Club Penguin's filters.
- As a common error, sometimes regular words could be blocked by accident.
