Club Penguin Wiki

Hey guys, Jonah Simm here. Wow... Haven't posted a blog post in a while, have I...? Geez, this place is feeling deserted... (ahem) Anyways, there is an unfortunate prediction that I have for Club Penguin's future; given the certain condition of the game. Oh boy, where do I begin?

CP is dying - as you read in the title. Here's WHY I think it's dying...

  • CP is removing the German and Russian language servers. Forever. Gone.
  • CP is making more and more parties based on licensed intellectual properties. Obviously, they're trying to get money from anywhere they can, since the game is losing money, so they might as well make a bunch of takeovers in hopes of delaying the inevitable... (seriously, name one person who asked for the Frozen Fever Party or the Inside Out Party...) These parties based on established licensed IPs are becoming more and more frequent nearly every year. Just in 2015 alone there have been the Star Wars Rebels Takeover, Frozen Fever Party, and Inside Out Party. Not to mention 2013, which had 4 takeovers in one year; and the 3 in 2014 (because let's face it, the Music Jam 2014 was totally a takeover)...
  • CP has not truly updated anything in a while. Let's see - the last party mascots have been: Gary, Rookie, and Aunt Arctic. THAT'S IT! And you know what? None of them have gotten a new background this year. All of it is being reused from previous parties. Club Penguin is constantly doing this, too. Items are being re-released, more and more new items are just recolors of existing items; everything is a reused asset.
  • All memberships are 20% off (for a limited time). This is a HUGE sign that the end is near. They are selling us what will most likely be our last memberships are a discounted price because we can all see the end.

Honestly, I understand what's going on here. Club Penguin is doing everything they can to keep the game going; but it's obvious that they're losing money. They were able to grab onto our generation while we were kids, and made a ton of money; but they have failed at successfully catching the attention of the children of the next generation. These kids have much better ways of spending their time on the internet, especially with other games like Minecraft constantly growing more popular, and taking all of the potential traffic from Club Penguin. (Not to mention that the internet is much larger in 2015 than it was in 2005.) As all of us grow up; we leave CP behind to scramble to please an ever-shrinking audience (which leads to smaller budgets and laying off employees)... They are losing money from having the large staff and production team from the game's prime. Large-scale parties and events are just not practical for the game's ever-shrinking budget. Remember, this is all speculation , but I believe that there's more than a little truth to it.

Club Penguin was made for us, and we left it behind as we grew older. And since no one is there to take our places - the game will soon die out. And while it's sad; it's also the truth... We can't prevent this. We're growing up, and forgetting about our younger years in CP; leaving them behind as we move on the bigger, badder, more interactive and immersive games. CP played it's part, and now it seems the role is nearing it's curtain call... I'm sorry. Truly, I am.

I don't want to see it go...
